Should Tyson Fury fight Francis Ngannou? by Jack Lacey-Hatton The start of a New Year always has boxing fans trying to predict which fights will define the sport over the next twelve months and 2022 is no different. But who could Britain’s sole World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury step into the ring with? WBA, IBF and WBO champ Oleksandr Usyk and the man he beat last year, Anthony Joshua, look tricky deals to broker from the outside. But would he be the right opponent for the Gypsy King at this stage in his career?   Yes While boxing purists will always be wary of the sport’s stars facing off against mixed martial artists, a meeting between...

Five biggest MMA fights of 2021 By Tom Masters MMA has had yet another massive year in 2021, with a large number of incredibly important fights across the year. As 2021 comes to a close, it feels like a good time to analyse and reflect, looking back on what has been a year of immense success for MMA as a whole. So, here are our five biggest fights of 2021. Justin Gaethje v Michael Chandler - lightweight, UFC 268.   One of the biggest fights of the year on paper did not disappoint as it went all the way to the wire.    Chandler started the better of the two fighters and with a series of right-hand blows that sent Gaethje to the fence.    But in the second round it was very much the other way around and Chandler somehow avoided a knockout from a massive blow to the head which sent him to the floor.    A fight that kept swinging back and forth with both fighters gaining momentum before losing it ended up in a unanimous points decision for Gaethje, who too...

What is hotter right now UFC or boxing?  By Tom Masters   Boxing has for a long time been the most popular combat sport around the world, but the recent emergence of UFC has seen the gap narrowed, with the cage fighting phenomenon growing in popularity year-on-year.    It has become a bit of a grudge amongst fans of both sports and we are even seeing crossovers such as the fight between Connor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.    But with that said, what is hotter right now, UFC or boxing?    1.       Difference in belts     One thing that often puts casual viewers off boxing is the number of belts compared to its direct rival UFC.    Boxing has five belts over 17 different weight categories, which does mean more fights, but it also means a long way to the top, with several world title fights per year.    UFC in contrast has just the one belt per weight category, which essentially means th...
